Publix wants you to use self service now that's for sure

My store will have 2 registers open and they are always encouraging the self service \stands

Back to the OP: Florida should be doing everything it can to encourage fitness, not discourage it

They don't have that here.

There is no such thing as a free lunch...

States like Florida that do not have an income tax often do have a vast and bewildering array of sales, surcharges and use taxes. Thus one way or another local government gets their money.

Yes, some states or local areas do have an income tax along with sales, surcharges and use taxes, but having first allows some leeway in rates.

...and...in Florida....a whole lot of that is paid by tourists....like the bed tax

Florida's population is right at 20 million.....but gets ~150 million tourists a year

Florida's surplus was right at $20billion...

That is true! FL is a large government state. Notice all the depts we have for everything.

I'm from Missouri and government is VERY small. hands off approach, bare bones. Nearby Arkansas, Kentucky, TN also like that. Small government. They do have an income tax in states like Arkansas but it's not huge and the cheap everything else overrides the little taxes there are unlike IL or NY for example.

Like Florida is more Republican now, still purple tinted, but a lot of the current fees and laws are from when Democraps had more power in Florida. Some of the stuff is in the constitution so really impossible to repeal. Like the stupid 3 day wait period in FL. It's in the constitution, impossible to repeal that now that it needs 60 percent of the votes.

They've had 60% of the votes available for years now. Florida is gerrymandered solid red. The blue votes don't really count anymore, because the bulk of them come from districts that are drawn specifically to make them not count.

Florida is "big government" - and yet Republican party stands for small government. And Florida legislators, and their governor, all proclaim their pride in the big government of their state. They're almost all Republican, they claim.

I'll posit that they're not actual Republicans at all. They're neo-fascists who've infiltrated the Republican Party, and have turned "Republican" into a word that now means "big government, authoritarianism."
