Has anybody seen the ridiculous fees the Florida DMV is charging lately?

I moved and need to update my Address and when I looked Online they want to charge me $48 dollars for a simple Change of Address!

Talk about Price gouging!

I'm looking here:
https://www.flhsmv.gov/fees/
and there is no entry for any fee at all for a change of address.

I also looked here: https://www.flhsmv.gov/name-and-address-changes/
and there's no mention of any fee for changing your address.

They do charge $48 for a new or renewed class E license though.

It is outrageous. How come the Governor chooses to remove taxes on diapers. But does not get these fees reduced or eliminated.

Since a change of address requires a that the DMV issue a new license, perhaps it is considered a "renewal"?

Anyway, I'd rather pay these user fees occasionally (really- how often do you move?) than pay the state income taxes in California, Illinois, or New York.

California charges $31 to update a driver's license for a change of address, name or gender identity. It's $41 to renew.

I'm still ahead even after paying the higher DMV fees in Florida.

Waiting for a mea culpa and thanks for the link from the OP.

The anonymous internet makes it very easy to be continually outraged.

I suffer from bouts of this as well.
