Canadian Rockies, the most beautiful place in North America.

Banff especially.

Good advice. Lake George is amazing. Saratoga Springs is nearby and also very cool.

That’s on my list- am thinking of combing it with Glacier NP in a few years if it’s okay to cross the border with a rental car.

That’s a good plan. I’ve been to Glacier and they’re the most scenic mountains I’ve seen in the US. Based on the pictures I’ve seen it looks like Banff, Jasper, and Yoho are even better.

It does look nice. You usually fly to NYC to go there?

Yes. Fly into NYC area, usually hang out there for a few days (family and some old friends in NYC and NJ) and then rent a car and drive up I-87. It's a surprisingly beautiful drive, particularly once you pass Albany.

It's also only 2 1/2 hours from Montreal, which is also worth a visit, and also has its share of explorable mountains in the area.

Thanks for the tip! I haven’t been up there in awhile and it sounds like a nice summer trip.

I 2nd the recommendation for Helen, GA. It's a long day's vehicle drive from Florida.

If you are flying, plenty of places out west. Sedona, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, etc.

Yeah, I know the north GA mountains are not that far from destinations in western NC.,I think I recall Helen, GA being maybe an hour away from our destination in Franklin, NC.

Doesn't surprise me about Asheville.

I remember hitting a couple hot spells where it got close to 90 in those mountains, and humid too.. Kind of disappointing when you go there hoping for relief from the hot humid FL weather. Though as I recall it did cool down into the high 50's, low 60's at night in the mountains. At least there was that!
