Not sure how often the power goes out wherever you are coming from, but my power goes out in Tampa 6-8 times a year for no reason.............this does not happen anywhere else I have property or have lived. The outages always happen when there is no weather (no rain, no wind, just sunny) and get blamed on "equipment failure," "squirrels," "vegetation," etc. There is a certain tolerance for incompetence in Florida, and this is a perfect example.

If you work from home, or even if you enjoy having reliable electricity, do NOT move to Florida and especially not Tampa, where we have TECO. The WORST power company in the history of power companies.

Last night I had my 3rd outage of the year, and it's only (almost) April!

We don't have that issue in Lakeland. We have Lakeland Electric, and it only goes out if there is an accident or hurricane. Also, it is usually restored pretty quickly. We have been here 4 years now and it has only gone out a couple times.

I could count on one hand the number of times our power has gone out in the 10 years we have lived here full time. When it has, it's usually been local and caused by a vehicle hitting a power pole or transformer. Lost power for 8 days in Hurricane Ian, but with all the damage here it was amazing we got power back as soon as we did.

Depends on where you live and which electrical grid you're on. I haven't had a power outage at all in the past few years.

My suburblet was developed with all underground lines that connect right to a major trunk line. My house was weirdly part of the 2% of the county that did NOT lose power when Hurricane Ivan came ashore.

We’re also lucky to be on the rural electric co-op side of the bridge instead of FP&L. Chelco seems to run about 30% less these days for similar ‘normal’ electric consumption.

Never had it in Gainesville, Orlando or Key West, either.
But I believe you!! Tampa, eh? Thanks.

I wish I could say it's just me, but this happens all over Tampa. Like I said, TECO is the worst.

This does not happen at any of my properties in Miami, DC (Virginia), California, Hawaii.

I created a poll in the House forum and majority of ppl say it doesn't happen in their state either.

It’s your above ground power lines. We don’t have the same problems where they’re buried, even with TECO.

The power in my Miami condo hasn't been out since Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Once in awhile it flickers and I have to reset my clocks, but that doesn't happen very often.
