I am looking to move to florida soon, i'm just not sure what part exactly. I have a 2 daughters who are 9 and 12 so of course a area where there are great schools and much to do for children. I would love to move to a quiet safe neighborhood but if i wanted to get up and drive about 30-40 minutes to a place where there's much to do. Also a place where the job opportunity is great and not too far from the beach. Something affordable. Townhome or 2 story family home, something with a great backyard space. Thanks.

What you're describing is pretty much every major city in Florida and their surrounding suburbs. Ft. Lauderdale/West Palm, Melbourne, Orlando, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Ft. Myers, Sarasota... You can find that type of housing in any of these metro areas, and they're all near beaches.

You'll either need to be more specific, or come down and tour the state for yourself to see what you and your family likes more. Each of these areas have their own pros/cons, just depends on what type of lifestyle you're looking for and why you want to move down here in the first place.

For close proximity to the beach, affordable with better schools and a good job market I would suggest St Johns County just south of Jacksonville. Check out places like Ponte Vedre Beach, Nocatee, Ashley Oaks, Samara Forest and Julington Creek.

Affordable
Close to the beach
Job Opportunities

You can pick two of these 3 things, but not all 3.

You'll need to come down and tour the state. We need to know what you find affordable. Sarasota would fit, St Johns county would fit. But neither area is what I would call "Affordable"

Good luck on the move. Would love to help more if I knew more specifics.

Renting or buying? Price range? Knowing the answers to these questions will give you better suggestions as to where to look as rental rates/ home prices can vary by a wide margin.

Great schools? In Florida? Have you been drinking?

If you care about schools do not under any circumstances remove your children from the excellent public schools in Maryland.

If you don't care about public schools, welcome to Florida!

Oh please, that's flat out ridiculous. A motivated child with any sense of IQ with involved parents can do well in any school system in any state, and have throughout time.

Slow down as others mentioned!

You are just going to pick up and move “soon” to a place “not sure” and you are vague about your background/job skills, housing budget, no solid job offer in hand?

You need to think this out better or you may become a guest on the Dr. Phil show IMHO.

Don't move to Florida if you expect great schools or even good schools.

You need to get the job first then that will dictate where you live.

Skilled, blue collar jobs that pay well in the northeast do not pay well at all in Florida. Minimum wage which you cannot support a family on.

You need to have a skill.
