Here's the straight skinny.

A 2x4 of Concrete is not as strong as a 2x4 of wood. A concrete block wall with a tie beam and reinforced steel is stronger than a 2x4 wall built with 5/8ths T-111. Walls are the last thing to fail during a storm, excluding garage doors and windows (apertures) . Most newer single family homes in Florida are CBS construction. Most multi story residential home in Florida use wood for the second level. I know of no builder who ever built homes with concrete trusses , I do know builders whose use steel trusses, and I like them a lot. SYP (southern yellow pine) trusses are very strong and will withstand wind loading. Most builders use plywood roof sheathing, some use cheaper OSB (yuck).

Roofs fail first... after that, what's the point? You'll be standing there looking at your destroyed home and your beautiful bare concrete walls.
