I'm not sure how effective the Guardian Angels really are. I don't think they'll go into the worst neighborhoods--they'll go on a subway or in a touristy area or someplace like Times Square. I think they're more known for their red outfits and some fancy moves like when they turn as a group and salute the subway train.

I was very disturbed by this crime, even animals do not treat other animals like this. The violent act of crime was done by monsters.

I hope they round up everyone of those monsters and punish them to the fullest extent of the law. I don't care how old they are, they need to go to chair for what they did.

I can only hope that this family will get the help they need for this boy. Things like this can lead someone to take their own life in the end. Just like the boy that jumped off the cruise ship last week for something similar.

I have prayed for this family and urge others to do the same.

The Guardian Angels are taking challenges that WE don't take. A least they are not afraid to step to the plate and make a difference. Maybe we can learn from them... Give them a call....

Cool Palm Coast and Port Orange

Palm Coast has no gangs...I moved here six months ago and have not seen one person who remotely looks like a gang member. I ride my bike 20 miles around town 3 times a week and still no one who even looks threatening. Are there better areas to live? Sure depending on your income and price range but Palm Coast is safe and affordable.

I moved to Palm Coast from Port Orange where I lived for 7 years. Port Orange traffic is relative to what you are used too. It is not as bad as Orlando but is worse than Mayberry...The schools are excellent, as a matter of fact Spruce Creek High School (Port Orange) is rated 57th of 1351 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18757087/site/newsweek/ in the whole country... The people posting negative comments about these towns obviously do not or have not lived here. Enough said...Good luck on your move

I also want to add that Palm Coast is a GREAT place to live! I was scared too when I first read some of the posts about it but wow I got a pleasant surprise after I moved here!
Its not gang infested at all, I dont see any gangs anywhere.
I have 3 children and we have very nice neighbors and live in very quiet Seminole Woods.
Its not a huge town but its not that small either. Its right in the middle of Daytona and St. Augustine so just a short drive to both. Flagler beach is gem!
For anyone looking to move there, feel free to pm me anytime! I have been here since the beginning of July and so far we just love it!
Dont listen to people who have never lived here! Just visting the city is not enough to make a good choice.

Default Port St. Lucie gang arrests

PSL police make 16 reported gang-related arrests <img src='http://web.tcpalm.com/multimedia/icons/video_icon.gif' alt='video' width='20' height='14' border='0' /> : St. Lucie County : TCPalm

In another thread I called this area of Port St. Lucie "nasty", and noted that it is an area of gang activity. A persistent PSL booster quickly called me a liar for it and stated that the city has no bad areas. This post is an attempt to clear my name on this forum.

The sad reality is that PSL's future will be no different than Palm Beach County, and the criminal element will only get worse as its population continues to swell. Growth has come to fast, as evidenced by the incredible number of homes in foreclosure throughout the city. Foreclosed homes will lead to neighborhood deterioration and worsening crime. The only hope is for PSL police to remain vigiliant in stomping out crime, as they were in this instance (kudos to them).

There were 16 people arrested. There are 160,000 people in Port St. Lucie. While the street where the bust was made is in the area that the OP considers to be "nasty", there are hundreds of other houses in that neighborhood -- and the article he cited mentioned that neighbors in the area were unaware of the so-called "gang" activity.

Further, the "gang" WAS busted -- and the police have vowed to continue with their vigilance. If there was other "nasty" activity in this, or any other, area, the police would be on top of it -- as they were with this incident, and with grow houses, and with almost anything else in the city -- which is why it is rated so highly as a safe city.

Now, if there were daily arrests and citizens living in fear in the neighborhood -- like there is in almost every other city in the nation OTHER than Port St. Lucie -- then the OP might have a case. THIS incident is actually proof of how effective the policing is.

There will be no reason to live in Port Saint Lucie once the gang culture that has infiltrated this area moves up there. Don't you worry; it'll happen, maybe sooner than you think!

I agree with you. You definitely have NO reason to live in Port Saint Lucie. I like it here, Port Saint Lucie. I have made a lot friends here. Everyone is a joy to be around. I think it is because we live in Port Saint Lucie. Life is good.

Default "No matter what, I'm never moving back to Palm Beach County," says one mother who lost her sons to a gang war in PBC

"If we stay in Lake Worth, there's a good chance he might have died or he'd be in jail forever," she says. "That is the way I saw things."

Lake Worth's Haitians seek safety of St. Lucie (broken link)

That is to say, I have a feeling many of these gang members will be making their way up to Port Saint Lucie and it will go downhill just the way Palm Beach County did.

You are so right. It's not the town, it's the people. Did you read that article? Those kids "never got into trouble-just drugs and domestic violence. Nothing bad."
