A. Pittsburgh has an H at the end, and B. I'm not going to lie and say that there isn't a joke about "gameday formal" being appropriate to wear everywhere in Western PA. That said, you'd have to be pretty sheltered to think (and never see) that there aren't people slumming in their pajama pants around Atlanta, Dallas, and all those other cities on your list.

LOL!
My area is so far behind trends... not a city within 30 miles. If it comes to this rural area, the trend is on the way out.

Pittsburgh PA? Or do you mean Pittsburg CA or others?

Nah...
I have seen it in several states (and airports) for over 20 years.
Even in some places on your list!

When I was in Philadelphia you don’t really see people in pajama pants not even the homeless. But south Philadelphia seem to be more into swestpants and workout clothes.

I noticed it in the New Jersey suburbs of NYC about fifteen years ago. It wasn't that common, so it was noticeable when someone did it.

But last year I was getting some dental work done in the Toronto suburbs, and the dentist office is near the high school. I was waiting for the numbing--excuse me, freezing, as they say in Canada , to kick in, and looking out the window I saw all the high schoolers walking down the street, about half of them in pajama pants. I mean with snowflakes and cartoon characters and whatnot on them!

No, it's been pretty universal. You just may not have noticed.

PJ pants, specifically, are often coded to younger people and poorer people. Rich married ladies are at Publix in their LuluLemon, not Disney fleeces.

I got a pair of flannel lounge pants that I wear around but I don't consider them pajamas.
I did see a Buddha shaped guy in the Chinese restaurant wearing some pajamas the size of a tent but I figured he was well past the any pants that will fit phase.
