Facial hair is now IN, among men at least. Why?

For the record, my father has had a beard for 40 years, as has my brother since he had kids and reported that he really didn't have time to waste to shave. My boss in a very well paid, high powered corporate setting is around the same age as my dad (early 60s - previously worked in tech and consulting for one of the big companies) and also seemingly has had a beard for decades. My cousins are in their 30s with beards (both nurses), but their fathers *also* have had beards on and off (trades). In my family, men are much more likely to have beards than not regardless of age, career, or style.

Facial hair felt a little "trendy" about a decade ago, but now it's just part of the balance.

Beards have been "in" for so long they're starting to go back out. They really reached a peak after everyone started working from home and Zoom dress codes became more relaxed. But the "Pandemic Look" is starting to phase out as people want to look more civilized again, almost as if to signal they're ready to move forward.

Are you saying that facial hair look uncivilized?
You might want to reevaluate your opinion.

Thankfully, beards aren't going anywhere.
Some men look really handsome with mustache. Well trimmed and cared for beard can look very attractive.
Generally, some polls said that men with beards may be seen as more self-confident, masculine, mature and as having a higher social status. A neat, well-trimmed mustache or beard communicates professionalism.
These traits are clearly important contributors to the overall sense of attractiveness.

The "COVID Beard" doesn't look particularly civilized, no.

My husband has had a beard for many years. Pretty much since he’s been able to grow one, which took quite a few years lol.

During the Covid work from home period, he let it grow wild without trimming or shaving at all. I actually kinda liked it! His hair was longer, nice bushy beard. But then, I’m an old hippie, so I guess that’s not surprising. He’s back to neatly trimmed now.

But I don’t feel that facial hair is trendy at all. Many men have had beards and mustaches for years.

Did beards ever go out? I don't think they ever did. Or ever will. I love me some beards!
