Yep. Whatever happened to the idea that comfortable is the thing that matters and what your doing while wearing whatever matters a whole lot more.

And what's wrong with fanny packs. The last one I bought finally died and I just got a nice new one.

Default men's Carpenter style shorts

what about Carpenter's shorts? I like to wear rugged shorts , khaki shorts are too flimsy and fragile.

Carpenter's shorts wear like jeans, tough material for work or leisure

I despise cargo shorts ... especially when guys think they can carry 18 pounds of crap in all those pockets. They end up looking like pack mules with saggy drawers and have to hoik them up with every third step.

No cargos here. I have nice legs and show them with my mid-thigh cut.

Most men I see wearing cargo shorts don't want to be bothered with a belt. And even with a belt, 18 pounds of crap in the pockets still pulls the shorts down.

I like this thread, in my opinion, men's fashions are boring and as far as going out of style i cant see any changes in that! I wear cargo shorts, as far as the kaki, Chino styles I may have one pair? I don't try and carry a lot in my pockets b/c of comfort, I use a small back pack for that. I did get some good ideas as far as my look in adding china's or kaki shorts, (i.e...shoes shirts ect..).

My middle-aged husband would look "less than good" in cargo shorts.

My early 20's son could pull cargo shorts off, but he and his friends all seem to prefer khaki type shorts. When I notice the young men in my college town, very few seem to be wearing cargo shorts. Most have some type of flat front shorts when out. (Basketball type shorts when going to classes).

As far as the suggested carpenter shorts, my son wore those as a small child. Dldn't realize they were still being made.
