So, without getting too graphic, today I noticed someone "relieving some stress" in the shower in the next stall. There's only a frosted glass separating the stalls. It was kind of obvious.
I finished showering and left and of course didn't say anything.

I was wondering though....is that a normal occurrence at the gym?

The way you address that is not turn a blind eye. Why not cheer him on? Give the glass a tap and shout, "GET IT! COME ON, MAN GO FOR IT!" See if you can drum up support from the others in the locker room too. When he emerges be sure to applaud and offer congratulatory hand shakes, pats on the back, etc.

Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode based on this?

Cannot speak for guy behavior in the gym showers, but have never seen anything that in the lady's locker room before.

I have seen that. I don't rate it "common".

Some guys get really worked up from working out.

And others go to gyms for reasons not related to working out. Sometimes specific neighborhoods the gyms can be rather cruise-y and get a reputation.

Not sure what happened in this case.

Why do you care what others do in the shower stall? Just do your thing and leave. No reason to ponder...

Just be careful when entering the shower stall. Ya gotta keep an eye out for jellyfishes.

Is it normal? Normal enough that you just witnessed it. He's not the first or last guy to rub one out after an exercise session. Maybe he had a hot date afterwards and wanted not to be over-excited for that.

Yah, I think you just ignore whatever people want to do in the semi-privacy of their frosted glass shower stall. And wear shower shoes.
