Because its a small country in Eastern Europe, again its not in my periphery and most likely because its a very different culture and society to where I live.

In my periphery is USA, Western Europe. I have no interest in visiting Eastern Europe and I really do not care that I have not visited Eastern Europe either. Sorry if I have offended you but its just the way I see Eastern Europe as a country out of my zone and quite often corrupt.

There just isn't much to do there, compared to somewhere like Czech Republic or Hungary. It is a good country to visit, though.

Really? Because I'm American and have no desire to visit Western Europe. Everytime I'm in Europe, it's the Central/Eastern part. Eastern Europe is where it's at.

Why would you be weary? Only if you're an inexperienced traveler.

I think nobody goes to Slovakia because most tourists still seem to believe that by visiting Prague, they're visiting some unexplored frontier of 'Eastern' Europe. In good time people will make it over there, I bet. Bratislava is so close to Vienna, it's kind of weird that it's not already a bit more explored by foreigners.

Other Europeans probably won't go because it's not a warm climate, and doesn't conjure up all kinds of romantic images.

Nobody even really goes to other parts of the Czech Republic yet, too.

Or for a much simpler reason: People don't like the name.

I think Russians make up a fairly significant percentage of tourists in Eastern Europe. As far as I can judge from this forum, Slovakia has quite Russophobian population. Perhaps this is why Russians not like visit to Slovakia and Slovaks difficult to develop tourism.
