Over the course of two years, a black dog turned completely white due to vitiligo, a condition in which the skin and hair lose their natural pigment.

Luckily dogs don’t feel self-conscious, so Buster is enjoying his life just like when he was completely black, and the vitiligo has not impacted his health in any serious way.

Take a look at the pictures

I don't think so.... the condition exists but doesn't look like that. (I don't know why people make up stories like this!)

Vitilago is more patchy than that and results in loss of skin pigment, not just the hair, usually around the eyes and mouth, like the pictures below. The 'after' picture in this story is of a normal black skinned dog with white hair.

I am not a vet, but Google it.
The main symptom of vitiligo is pigment loss in skin and fur. In some dogs, their entire body will be depigmented. In others, only certain spots will be affected...

Look at the Googled pictures - some dogs show their nose skin totally unaffected.

So, maybe this is a rare phenomenon.

Instead of dismissing it maybe you should prove that this story is a hoax...

Pretty tough to prove one way or another. *Most* of the photos I’ve seen online show the nose skin affected.

Sure looks like two different dogs to me in the Reddit post. The nose is different.

If you read the guy's comments in the Reddit thread - he said that his vet confirmed the diagnosis. Not sure why you think he is making it up. He posted progression pics too.

Why do people make anything up on the internet? Attention maybe? Because they can? I don't know why. But if there is one thing we should have learned by now it's don't trust everything you see on the internet. There's a lot of pretty creative and talented people out there. Not all of them are doing good things with that talent.
