Why has there never been a fictional anthropomorphic Shih Tzu?

They are literally the cutest pet. There are dozens of anthropomorphic cats, rabbits, and bears.

They're already appealing in real life apparently. Maybe no one felt the need to create an artificially exaggerated cutsey one "better" than the real ones. I suspect cartoony/animated animal creations succeed best when the invention contrasts sharply with reality. Of course, finding Shih Tzus cute will vary with the person. It isn't universal. With all due respect to those who love the breed, the reputation they have for dog owners I happen to know include way too much grooming/shedding, a mess in rain, mud, snow, infantile characteristics, stubborn.

I have a Shih Tzu. I DO find him to be incredibly cute and affectionate.

Shih Tzus hardly shed at all, actually. But we get ours groomed about every 6 weeks. They have a double coat, and it IS a LOT of work to keep that coat well groomed if you let it grow out too long.

He IS friendly. Overly friendly. Annoyingly overly friendly. LOL And yes...he IS stubborn.

There you go: an opportunity for you, OP, to write the script for the movie that Hollywood can't resist.

I don’t believe there is an anthropomorphic Shih Tzu character that I recall seeing in films et al. but Millhouse’s dog on The Simpsons is a Shih Tzu.

My son told me there IS a anthropormorphic Shih Tzu on Nintendo's Animal Crossing. Her name is Isabelle, and she's a secretary.
