My daughter’s chocolate lab will bark at dogs and horses on TV. Some animals, she will ignore, but she even barked at a picture of a dog on a dog food bag on a commercial. I have had many dogs, but none of them paid attention to TV.
It’s impossible to watch some shows, like Dr. Pol, with her in the room.
The dog is a trained bird retriever, so maybe she’s more attuned, visually?

My dog does not. Sometimes he’ll twist his head at different animal sounds, but he’s almost oblivious to the screen. My daughter’s dog, on the other hand will actively watch tv. Sometimes she puts the tv on Animal Planet or National Geographic or some such and the dog will sit and watch.
Yes, all the time. She even recognizes the jingles/music that proceed animal appearances on TV commercials, and is off the couch in a heartbeat and is planted in front of the TV, just waiting.
Our since passed dog used to react to every animal that came on the screen. Didn't pay any attention to the humans, but dogs, cats, horses, elephants, whatever the show was about, he reacted to.
Even our cat will occasionally, though not as often, react to animals on TV.

My girl responds to dog barks on TV as well as disturbing sounds like fire alarms , large truck beeping while in reverse and for some reason doorbells .
Only certain types of doorbell sounds though ...the ones with sharp ding song ..may be because thats how the one in our house sounds like .

Our dog loves to watch the Westminster Dog show. We've got a wide screen, so you can tell by how he's turning his head he's following the dogs as they walk across the screen. He'll watch the entire show with us.
She liked dog shows, and shows with dogs, she also had favorite shows, where she knew when a dog was about to appear and would get ready.
She lunged at the screen rather violently, which we found pretty funny at the time. Of course, this was 2001, when TVs were these enormous heavy boxes that could take her abuse. If we had her today, we'd have lost a few big tvs and probably had them fall on her. It might not have been as funny!
IME it varies. Two of my previous dogs paid no attention to TV action or sound. Two others did...one to a rather annoying degree. Unless I didn't mind an unofficial "backup chorus" I couldn't even hum tunes under my breath or play music with vocals on the stereo. So glad I wasn't an opera aficionada!
