Here's a thread from a few years back with some more responses, if you are interested. We used it for our rescue from age 3 until her death at age 14+ for spay incontinence.
I had a dog that had spay incontinence and we used the proin from about 2 years until she died at 16 years. As the years passed the dosage was increased periodically when she started having break through leakage.

My older dogs luckily never developed that issue, but since they were both spayed females, I did research on homeopathic/natural choices, as that is what I used for many of their other issues.
This link has info on both pharmaceuticals and natural approaches, causes, etc., so it might be worth looking at to help you make a decision. I especially like this source for info. And, good luck, older dogs are the best!
They tried Proin or similar for my dog but her diagnosis was eventually ectopic ureter, so it did not work. She later had surgery at about 4 months but that did not fix it either. This was many years ago. She passed about 9 years ago at the age of 10.
I washed the area daily and treated it with Desitin. I tried doggy diapers as well but she would always rip them off.
