I need to crate a young dog for a couple hours a day to prevent her from harassing my older dog while I work. I can't afford to interupt my activities to settle the young one down every time she is an idiot.

Is there a particular brand of dog bed that resists getting chewed up? The young one seems to enjoy destroying anything chewable. She's about 1.5 years old.

I've had good luck with vet bed. But if you have to put the dog into a bare empty crate it won't ruin her life.

You could also give the pup some safe chew toys to give her something to chew on instead of her bedding.

She seems to like "variety" She has two or three rawhide bones at any given time along with a Kong. She is the chewiest dog I've ever had living with me.

We just 'retired' our first Carharrt dog bed. It's 8 years old.

They are momma and puppy proof

This is true and our dog, who destroyed even the "indestructible" Bully Bed in less than 45 minutes, has to settle for no crate cushion now. She seems fine with it, especially when we toss in a frozen Kong (stuffed with some dog food or peanut butter concoction) to sweeten the deal.

With young dogs I toss an old towel or old blanket or even old sheet in the crate as if they destroy it no big deal yet it gives them something to snuggle or nest in. Once they are out of that stage I will put a crate pad or some type of soft bed in the crate being most of mine have enjoyed napping in their crates.
