Here's some of the country we hunt. My friend With his GSP Dexter
We hunt sections- 1 sq mile plots. We zig-zag so we actually walk 5 miles in a section. Of course the dogs do a lot more.
Lots of birds.
Dogs tracked and pointed up lots of birds. We harvested 5 roosters between 2 hunters and 3 dogs.
2 of the roosters were big and old. Right barrel shows them. Very nice birds.
Hunting until Sunday morning then back to work. Going out again in 2 weeks.
My two working a slough. They're getting pretty tired after a week straight with only one day off.. Last night the ranch dog 'piston' decided it was more fun to sleep with my dogs in the truck camper, lol.
Cute boxer male, full of energy. He sacked out pretty hard after playing with my dogs around the ranch. My friend has been tracking our distance travelled this week. I've covered almost 100 miles, and dogs tend to do 5x as much. Free feeding two large bowls, 30lbs dry, one case canned plus all the table scraps they can eat and they still lost 5-7 lbs of weight. Time to go home, heal up and fatten up for more hunting...
Long time out with the dogs. 8 days hunting, 2 days stuck for vehicle repairs, 2 days travel. 11 nights with my two dogs in a truck camper.
Glad I have company for the 6 hour ride home.
