We took 8 adult dogs and 3 pups to Petsmarts National Adoption event and 6 of the 8 adults and all three pups have great applications on them. Several other rescue groups were also there and they all said they had a pretty good day too. There must have been at least 50 dogs there in need of new homes. The place was a madhouse but fun too.
The 3 year old treeing walker hound who has been with me since last May finally found her match, as did the little Feist who has been with me since early November. Looks like I might get to have a short break from fostering since the pound doesn't even have too many dogs at the moment. Direct adoptions are up there too.
I heard from our cat person that we also adopted out at least 7 cats, three of whom were my fosters.
We also signed up a new foster person and she has experience with other groups, she's new to the area.
Tomorrow I rest. Might just stay in my jammies all day. That makes it easy to take a long nap in the afternoon.
Congratulations on your success today! It brought back memories for me. We adopted our dog from a Petsmart adoption day just a little over 2 years ago. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thank you for all you do for the homeless pets and the petless families!
Sounds like you had a great day congratulations! My best dog ever Jazz came from a petsmart adoption event many years ago! I think you deserved a day in your Jammies and hope you got that!
In addition to all the dog adoptions we also adopted out a total of 10 cats.
Of course that won't really bring our numbers down much because D has at least half a dozen cats on the waiting list to come in to foster care.
We've just signed up for three adoption events at our local library this summer. We did one last year and had a nice time. It's nice to do more local events, gets our work better known in this small community and maybe we'll even manage to get a few more folks interested in volunteering to help out the critters in need of new homes.
ps: I also managed a pretty good "cat nap" in my recliner this afternoon. It might have gone on longer but the phone rang, of course it was someone from the hs wanting to talk about some upcoming things.
