Washington state has Norwegians, Maine has French, Minnesota has Swedish, Massachusetts has Irish, New Jersey has Italians. But what about Colorado?

From my experience, it was a lot of mixed Europeans that came from the Midwest or Texas rather than a lot of direct immigration from Europe. Like the Midwest was the feeder in the 1800s then their grandkids moved to CO in the 1900s.

A part of Colorado was once part of the Republic of Texas so I'm guessing Americans were the first immigrants to that part of Texas.

And . . . Texas was part of Mexico since . . . forever . . . and in 1519 when Hernan Cortes landed at Veracruz marking the start of Spain's conquest of Mexico . . . colonizing Mexico with significant Spanish influence . . . we can say with some certainty that the primary influential European immigrant group in Colorado (south of the Arkansas River) is Spanish . . . as it would also be true of New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and southern California. Si señor?

The Colorado part of the Republic of Texas was claimed by the republic, but was never under its administrative control. In fact the true extent of the "controlled" part of the republic didn't even really make it to the panhandle.

Pueblo has Bojons. That's what I think they call/called them. I think that means Polish, perhaps Slovic (eastern Europe) folks. Many came in to work at the Steel Mill.
