Who sold ownership to Ben Navarro without putting a clause in there stating that it can't move to a different location?
And now they are asking for $50 million in public funding for an expansion lol?

Let's see within very reasonable distance of the tennis stadium, you got:

Voice of America Center (6 miles)
Arbor Square (7 miles)
Deerfield Towne Center (7 miles)
Liberty Center outdoor mall (8 miles)
Traders World (10 miles)
Cincinnati Premium Outlet Mall (10 miles)
Kenwood Mall (14 miles)
Bridgewater Falls (15 miles)

Not to mention Kings Island and Great Wolf Lodge if they "need something to do"

If anything there is TOO MUCH shopping around these parts. And let's not get started on the laundry list of restaurants....

Mason and West Chester area were voted as #5 and #13 best places to live for families in the US. People really need to leave their hotel when they come to town lol.....
Most of those things are completely inaccessible to visitors of the area. Warren County has no public transit and hardly any sidewalks. There is no commuter rail connecting it to Cincy. There may be a single bus line to Kings Island. If you visit Mason you would have to uber or taxi everywhere, which isn't economic at all. Cincinnati is sleepy enough; Mason is practically comatose.

And therin lies the problem....the event has outgrown Mason (snore) and attendees want more accesible amenities...and what does the local area do? Scratch their heads and wonder what went wrong...how much money you wanna bet leadership knew about this way in advance and simply cannot compete. Yet thats the problem...the area is too divided amongst themselves to pool any real competitive money together to compete with outside offers. Meanwhile CIncinnati just put MLS online complete with a new stadium...and sad to say deuces to this important event ...oh well.

Hopefully they do nothing. When you outgrow your apartment you don't demand that the landlord spend money to make it bigger, you go find a home to buy or rent.

yeah, but this isnt that. This is a revenue genrating nationwide event that is a loss to the area. I get that nobody can snap their fingers and remake this area have what attendees want but the prevailing attitude around here is sytemic in nature...the attitude that well if they dont like it they can leave....thats not a good vibe to give off and Cincinnati folks definately give that off in relation to issue of this nature...thats not all bad either...

Looks like it will still be in Cincinnati (Mason) next year? https://wsopen.com/tickets/
I want to go! The tournament being in a low-key area is actually a selling point for me. I'll visit Cincinnati for a couple days either right before the tournament starts or right after it ends, but while the tennis is going on I certainly don't need any sightseeing or attractions in the immediate area. As long as I have a ticket package, parking, food, and a nice place to sleep I'll be thrilled to be in Mason!

Charlotte's new $400 million tennis facility if built will be located next to the airport, in a location called the River District which currently on google maps appears to be an empty area.

The new owners of the tournament apparently are an investment group based in Charleston, SC.

I'm guessing they do a lot of work in financial services in Charlotte, so moving the tournament would be a big marketing move for their firm in the city where presumably they do the most business.
