The reason why is simple - from its positive inception, the thread descended into arguably the most exhaustive, contentious and hateful entry ever mounted on the Cincinnati forum, wherein even the OP threw in the towel ages ago.

Numerous forum members requested that the thread be shut down, but that didn't happen. Here are the moderator's reasons why: Post #859, page 86; after his comments, anyone persisting to post on this thread is telling you more about themselves than they are the streetcar. As for myself, my only purpose to step in was merely to serve as your personal "canary in a coalmine" and forewarn you before you sink into the mire. Whether you heed my advice or not is up to you.
Yeah this is not a good thread to do actual research on the system. This is a thread for negative nancys. Buster, I'd recommend posting in r/Cincinnati or urbanohio.com. Urban Ohio has a great long thread on it, including people who are not supportive of the system but actually post valid issues in rational ways. I personally ride it to get from different restaurants and bars. For Instance I like parking my car and taking the streetcar up to Rhinegiest for a beer or 2 and then taking it back down for dinner. But I can't stress enough, this is not a good page to get actual information on the streetcar, you'll just get a lot of one sided negative posts. Check out reddit and especially Urban Ohio. Good luck in your research.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I was interested more for links to some kind of actual numbers from a reputable study, more than just reading forums but it seems the info is not easy to find or not available. As seems to be the case for other cities streetcars. They don't seem to have ridership info for these on the APTA site which reports heavy rail, light rail, and bus. But also it would take a more detailed analysis, probably surveys to find the type of info I'm wondering, as to purpose of use. But does anyone know offhand if Cincinnati's streetcar replaced a bus line?

I agree. Best to let the facts speak for themselves and they do.

Not true, you just can't handle the idea that the folly is a failure
