How about "Pee-fee-fer (Pfeiffer) Rd" I know very few who get that right the first time.

Of course it has to be in deference to Mary Emery who founded it. But why was she too bashful to call it Marymont? What's with the Marie?

I'm a native and see my username. Not only acceptable, but local generations approved. Helluva lot better than Da Nati, pron.: Natty

I would think it would be pronounced to sound like Chevy, which is the way I say it. Not with the first syallable sounding almost like they are getting ready to say sh*t. I hear it quite a bit.

I hate hearing Louisville called "loo-uh-vuh."
But that's how people from Louisville pronounce it. If you say "Lewie-vill" people know you're from out of town.

I started to write this very answer a day or two ago, having spent quite a bit of time over the years in that town.

Why can't Marie be pronouced as Mary? "ie" and "y" can both be the long e sound.

Mary Emery had a lot of money. She can pronounce the name of her town however she wants.
