I went one time to this "award winning" chili place and NEVER AGAIN. There was a hair in my chili and they got my order wrong. I much prefer Dixie Chili.

One good sausage and I am done. And other items like mashed potatoes and kraut just fill me up faster.
I have been meaning to try BA Chili.

They have a big variety of sandwiches; triple-deckers, double-deckers, singles, some hot sandwiches, a small selection of salads, and a different soup each day. If you don't see what you like, you can tell them what you want and they'll usually make it for you.

I usually get a single turkey and swiss on rye (toasted) and that comes with a pickle and chips or pretzels, and I think it's $5.25.
There was/is one in Colerain too.

Hard to beat PRC (Pleasant Ridge Chili). Carried an egg sandwhich, goetta and a salad out of there after the Reds game on Wednesday night. Great place!

You just mentioned a place I haven't been to for years PRC. But if they serve goetta I must figure out a way to get there. I am sure they will prepare me a plate of goetta and eggs along with rye toast. my favorite way to eat goetta. But I don't want carry out, I want that goetta hot as I can get it. Of course I need a pepper shaker to go along with it. Thanks for the reminder.

OK, this thread has had a good backing. I have been impressed by the variety of foods and the comments of the posters. I want to give it some more life so I am boosting it back to the top of the first page of listings. I have noticed once a thread gets booted off the first page it kind of goes into oblivion.

There's a few other threads about to enter this abyss, but they deserve it.

I have travelled all over for my job and spent 5 months in Cincy. I have never eaten so good in my life! I definitely fell in love with a few restaurants, especially Alabama's Fish Bar. Its funny I came across this thread because I tell people how good the food is there all of the time!

Thanks. I also keep hearing Alabama Fish Bar is great. I believe it has already been mentioned in this thread. But thanks for mentioning it again.

I liked it the first time I tried it and keep on wanting to go back to AFB but there are always lines extending out the door whenever I'm around there and I'm never patient enough to wait. That's a good sign for a restaurant, though, they're definitely doing something right.

^^ Yes, people waiting in line is a good sign for a restaurant, long as they don't get frustrated and leave.

Re: Alabama FishBar I'd call it more of a social opportunity than a line out the door. I mean, in the true spirit of carryout-only, it has a small customer area and no seating. Max 4-5 customers inside before they start spilling outside, depending how cozy they want to get. Lines moves quickly though, so unless I'd see a line of 20+ people outside (never have), I wouldn't consider it a long wait.

Yes, some of my favorite food is now carry out. Tonight the carry out comes from Kroger, in the form of frozen chicken enchiladas - brand name Stouffer's. They are about ready to come out of the oven. So I have to put Kroger on my list of favorite carry out places.
