I do agree with the view of Indianapolis since I've made the very same statement for years. But I don't know why you would think Cincinnati does less with "more" than other major metro areas.

In terms of the topography, the region has developed it pretty well. The Ohio River now has entertainment and housing among other things in NKY and downtown. Devout Park and Mount Hairy Forest are excellent examples of urban rural retreats that few others can match. A major theme park resides on the northern edge of the metro area. Great museums and restaurants are common. And the corporate sector is reinvesting in the city and apparently building for the future with projects like Dunhumby's new building. And I've read about other projects in the works in the newspaper over the last year.

Yeah, the City Council does seem to be a bit screwy more often than not but they are not doing serious damage to the city that I can see. Just the typical infighting that you would expect in any city council.

WILWRadio ...

I disagree that the Cincy Council does not do lasting harm. Why would an other business want to try and compete with Mahogany's for city startup money. They obviously had the greased inside track and when some people objected they were basically told to shut up this is the way it is going to be.

It is good to read a report stating the majority of the bar/restaurant businesses at the Banks appear to be doing well. It is apparent Mahogany's at the Banks was given a windfall they should not have needed. So many other establishments are doing fine on their own. If I was one of them I would be secretly hoping Mahogany's falls on their face and embarrasses the City.

Mahogany's and their ilk get million dollar handouts, while citizens are expected to accept that a quarter of the city's snow removal equipment is sidelined because of deferred maintenance. If you don't happen to depend on the city for this kind of basic services (which we taxpayers already paid for) then I guess it's easy to have the attitude that everything's fine.

Hey Maam, you have a real negative attitude. Guess what, I don't blame you at all. For the last few weeks there has not been a single day when I could not drive out of my driveway onto a basically bare, maybe wet street, and go anywhere I wanted to in Mason by noon and usually before. And this includes weekends. As most of you know I have stated I am not about to move away from here long as we receive the level of city services we are getting. It is not just snow removal, but the Community Center, parks of all sorts including sports fields and organized activities for the kids, what basically makes up a community.

Cincy is identified as being made up of a number of neighborhoods. My term for this would also be communities. That is a good term, a community. But in most larger cities, the communities have little to say about their distinction. They are not capable of directing how their tax money will be used. Wonder why they become delusional?

If they are now having struggles keeping that business afloat there will be more than a little criticism.

Who ya gonna complain to??? Bad idea from the start and that council is, for the most part, gone.

My question is, who is the owner of Mahogany's related to?

Every year there is some sort of maintenance problemd. EVERY YEAR. This goes way before the streetcar or Mahogany.

Just because there is a problem EVERY YEAR doesn't make it right. It just says the SAME PROBLEM exists every year and NOONE is doing anything about it.

.

Sure. But the general system of priorities just goes on and on and on. Line the pockets of your cronies with handouts for projects that either fail or never even materialize, and provide mediocre levels of services to the citizens who are paying the bills. Incidentally, I believe your posting above is the first to drag the streetcar into the thread.

KJBrill. Do you mean city hall is doing back door deals with some of these businesses? If that was the case, would there not be some kind of investigation into what is going on?
