Jason- I've been frustrated with the exact same things people are talking about today a lot longer than they've been talking about it. It's painfully clear to me we could send the Messiah to DC and still get the same results no matter the party. The system of checks and balances has been breached to such a degree that honest public servants are incapable of being in command and control of themselves without the Devil and Daniel Webster terms and conditions of employment being evoked. Getmoneyout.com is one of many sites to petition. There are many petitions all over the USA reiterating the same thing. Legalized bribery is literally killing us, and everyone counting on us to prevail.

The system itself must be reformed. Stop talking yourself out of being responsible for what it is that represents you. Otherwise you've earned a stooge like Palin and the next 500 wars 1% et al. will concoct to feast on DOD. My idea may not solve everything, but if so, you must put your mind to solving it better than I can. That's the point. There's an old saying in the Coast Guard; "Can't never did a damned thing". No truer words spoken.

A few months back I got an odd message on my machine from a stranger. He's a native son who had a petition on a website requesting Shelley Moore resign. Here he is: capitoresign
Capito not worried about opposition » Local News » The Register-Herald, Beckley, West Virginia
I checked her voting record and contributors and I suggest all do. You don't get to legitimately call yourself pro life if you vote 90% RTL and 0% women employed. You don't get to call yourself centrist if you vote 60% John Birch Society. The gas and oil industry is outspending more than it's taking in this year trying to push their agenda and as Shelley Moore said, she's not worried about her job 5 months before the election is decided because it already was decided.

I recently got to talk to him on the phone and as it turns out we were comparing notes how his 99% rally in Martinsburg turned out compared to Charleston. Both went swimmingly and lots of people are starting to coalesce. He pointed me in this direction:
Corporate Crime Reporter
I found this article exceptionally informative why health care is out of control.

And he’s been trying to just practice medicine.

But he keeps running into false claims – by hospitals, lab companies and drug companies.

Over the years, he’s filed a number of cases under the False Claims Act.

And has recovered many millions of dollars.

In fact, he’s made more settling False Claims Act cases over the years than he has made in his practice.

His biggest settlement was in 2008 against Merck for $54 million – he pocketed $14 million after lawyer’s fees and taxes.

To qualify that opinion you'd have to go to occupation sites and ask them. You could listen at a rally. You could read the main page. You could continue following this thread and ask questions. This presumes a willingness to learn and I'm not seeing that from you.

I'm not speaking for 99, but for myself right now. The 1% are who? Some guy with a pile? They're not the residents of a street in Manhattan or the entire borough of Brooklyn. They're not even obliged to be resident of USA, and many of them are not. Philosophically, do you have a problem with a select bunch of <alleged> 'citizens', think tanks, or contrived entities who interpret their "rights" as a right to prey upon Americans, and all humanity?

Cannibals are incompatible with civilization, and it is they who must go. Not the 99%. Separation of Corporation and State. Enron has no business authoring legislation applicable to the masses, or a nation, that they have no allegiance to.

Well, I'm having trouble following you there. I worked for many years in New York and am actually a retiree from there. But one wouldn't have to live there to see what ha s been happening. It has nothing to do with what street they call home.

They have used their money and influence to gain control of both political parties and they use different wording to say the same thing depending on who they are speaking at. To the socialist inclined they spout "inclusive", and "global". To the more capitalistic it is "open market", and "free trade".

The result is the same... open borders and an unending attack on the American middle class with an ever cheaper supply of labor to help them maintain their control of our financial resources. The only solution to this problem that is even close to realistic is carefully controlled immigration, border controls, and tarrifs along with a progressive tax structure that ends the amazing array of loopholes they have created to preserve their wealth and pass it back and forth among one another.

How in the world does a donation to the Preserve Bengla Desh Fund help America in any way but they have ways to let such things be financed on the backs of our middle class. I am not seeing any indication that you are willing to learn.

Let's try it your way. I'll ask some questions.

I agree that those protesting are right that a small part of our society has cornered a huge portion of our resources. I think you will agree that they have made it a mission to keep it too, and have various methods that they use to accomplish that.

A primary means they use to accumulate wealth is insuring they keep the cost of labor low. Since price is a function of supply and demand, it is in thier interest to keep the supply high and the demand low. How do they keep cheap labor in plentiful supply? My answer to that question is they mostly ignore immigration laws designed to protect our middle class from unauthorized invasion from foreign countries. Perhaps you have a different take?

As I see it, they also promote a "global" (or "open market" depending on the audience) perspective. This means if they can figure out a way to get somebody to do your job in India for $8 a day, they aren't going to pay you $10 an hour. I believe the only logical method to stop this is tarrifs on imported goods AND services. What's your answer?

There is a system in place that gives mostly the wealthy a means to avoid paying any taxes. They can donate to basically any tax exempt foundation or organization, and make tons of money on which they pay no taxes. I don't have a problem with someone donating to any cause or charity they choose to support. What I object to is them having the ability to do that by supporting causes that don't directly benefit the American people. Support old people in Tel Aviv if that is your choice. But, don't do it and expect to do so by avoiding paying taxes that are supposed to benefit our country and our people. When you do that, and you pay no taxes, you are essentially attacking our middle class and forcing us to support foreign causes that might not be those of our choosing. How would you deal with issues like that?

Revolution is in the air.
People are finally standing up everywhere.
We are tired and hungry for change.
The people who've promised us change
are the ones who are so deranged.
Taking our money, silently stealing our right,
taking away our very chance of income.
Finally here are the majority standing united,
Hands held, signs high.
The cause is one that makes me cry
I weep for I fear we're too late.
The ones in charge are banded with the thieves
and are using brutality to make us leave.
We'll stand and shout for hours and days,
but will that be enough to change their ways?

I look around at our group
This history in the making
All ages, all clicks, we come together
The need to work together defeats all differences

Each one has a reason to hold strong
A mother, a child, a sibling, or simply the future
Goals we dreamed are being taken away
It's time we show we can fight back.

We stand strong announcing change
We believe in our cause
The cold nights have banned us together
Days on end, we created a family.

So here we stand occupying for our rights
Fighting for what we believe in
Believing in a difference only the people can make
After all we can only hope for a better future.

The blessings can only come through hope
A moment when the world can come together
We have to stand together for divided we shall fall.
So one more time let me hear it... Who are we?
THE 99%!

Too much has been going on since I announced the last rally so I'll just have to put one foot in front of the other to get folks caught up. Patience please, I am not a trained journalist. Just picking up the story none are reporting beyond surface.

Last week an editorial appeared... Occupy: Admirable movement - Editorials - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports -
Quote:
A movement organizer, Glenn Greenwald, wrote:

"Does anyone really not know the basic message of this protest: that Wall Street is oozing corruption and criminality, and its unrestrained political power -- in the form of crony capitalism and ownership of political institutions -- is destroying financial security for everyone else?"
Reading past the story you can note some blog responses making wild presumptions, accusations, and in general making themselves irrelevant to the discussion at hand because they're too busy avoiding the mirror. There are ZERO, I repeat, ZERO anti semitic sentiments going on at this protest. Expressing grievances with monetary policy and financial industry void of any ethical standards means someones religion has been assaulted? Not a single Rabbi stood up for Bernie Madeoff with the defense he was being religiously persecuted. Fact was Bernie betrayed all.

Facts are also established by false allegations that betray their own confessions. Ugly as they are to behold, money is the religion of the accusers, not the accused. Golden calf worshipers by any other name... no one has to be religious to acknowledge the wisdom behind the moral of the tale.

One thing to remember: a revolution is always a tragedy and always is a disapointment. Revolutionaries present themselves as pioneers, builders however they are destroyers. "Let's kill Quaddafi and our life will be 100 times better! Etc.
Let's look at recent and not so recent revolutions;
"orange revolution" in Ukraine- tents, protests, elected popular leader. Result: nothing improved, people voted revolutionaries out, the ex-popular leader is in prison.
Arab "spring" revolutions- no comments; power to tribal elders??? It makes me miss British Empire.
Russia 1991- triumphal victory of Yeltsin, dissolution of Communist Party, high expectations and dreams... Commies are gone, let's total happiness begin... Wrong, ten years of struggle, wars and what do we see twenty years later- those who lost in 1991 are winners now.
Russia from 1905 till 1917: destroy Tsarist regime, power to the people, factory to workers, land to peasants, etc. The result is very well known.
The moral: if you want to make things worse- go ahead and make a revolution. But don't forget for each "occupant" there will be ten defenders.

Spankydawg, (dog?),
I never lived through American revolution but I lived through 1991 Russia. It was scary. Revolutions are very romantic untill the moment when the first blood is spilled. You have two scenarios available- the movement you support is rising against the regime and :
a)they lost and leaders and supporters got a lot of troubles, from job loss to executions.
b)they won and leaders failed to fulfill promises and started to enjoy power and corruption. (yes they can).
Other scenarios? Only variations of those two.
