Someone here recommended this catnip earlier this year and I bought a jar. OMG! It has a heavenly scent and even my boy who has ignored catnip all his life now rolls around in it and eats it. They are all zonked out and happy.

Let your kitties begin their revels!

Meh, I have cats that won't touch the stuff, or a couple of my cats are straight up Nip Heads. The ones that won't touch it act as if is some sort of drug...lol

But for the most part my cats eat it.

You grow your own cats?

How do you tell when they're ripe? Will the tail be standing up straight?

I also grow catnip, but my kitty still doesn't seem affected by it. Maybe I should dry the leaves and make some tea instead

Default nip-heads

I have 2 nip-heads at home. Bubba will eat it right off the plant purring as loudly as he can. then he goes inside and collapses stoned, flat on his back snoring and wheezing like an old drunk!! Annie alternates between being mellow or wild not sure why. The dried kind drives her bonkers. When I put it on the scratching box, she pushes him away (as usual) and will roll in it, rubbing it into her fur then she goes over and curls up and sleeps. Then Bubba gets his time at the fresh nip. Of course he thinks that box is for him to sleep on, most of the time, but he does a good job scratching on it too.

I always dry the leaves. LOL....the cats know the box, a tupperware container, and they start meowing as soon as they see it. I actually have to keep it in a high cabinet that they can not reach or they will tear it up trying to open it!
They don't appear to be as interested if it is not dried out.

Aha. Maybe that's why. I'll pick off the leaves and dry them right away. She's never really responded to any catnip toys, but I'd love her to have one of those funny reactions.
