I've had one (1) cat/fur baby my entire adult life. I'm on #3. And with the prior two, and with fosters, nobody ever cared for the catnip. I've bought the stuff and it's like watching paint dry: no response.

Can someone recommend a good brand? with a link to purchase??

TIA

Well, honestly my cats have never met any catnip they couldn't love. Currently, I think I have a big plastic jar of Cosmic Catnip and I got it at Farm and Fleet. I have bought nip before at Petsmart and also Walmart - they go all ape-shirt over it no matter where it comes from. I don't think brand specific makes any difference IMHO. I guess if you really wanted to wow them you could try growing some fresh - or buying some fresh - come to think of it Petsmart sells little pots of it up near the check-out area, at least where I live. That should really grab their attention - but there is a percentage of cats that don't respond to it at all. But, what are the odds that every cat you get is that way? Hmmmm... There is also a catnip spray you can get - my kids go all crazy for that stuff too. Good luck...

The best cat nip available is grown by you, easily done in your home and kept inside or planted outside.

I adopted a couple of stray, littermate kittens several years ago. One of the kitties loved catnip; the other put it on ignore.

Well, the past two I had didn't respond, but I have no idea how Edward will feel. Three in a row would be odd, I suppose.

There is no danger in it, correct??

Yep, not every cat gets it. We have had cats who would sniff it and walk away, and we have had cats that were rolling around, acting goofy as soon as they got a whiff.

My one Son had a cat, Sassy, who would dig through moving boxes to get to the cat nip. They were moving one time and when they came out in the morning a moving box was shredded open and cat nip was all over the floor, with Sassy drunk, laying in the middle of it all.

As for the best kind, I get it in a jar at the pet store, not cheap, but good drugs always are expensive.

Out of my current 5 cats, 3 love it and 2 ignore it. Doesn't really matter where I get it or how fresh. A few years back when I had 7 cats, the ratio was about the same, 4 liked it and 3 were ho-hum about it.

I buy "Smarty Kat" organic catnip. It comes in 1 oz resealable packets.

Lily and Charcoal tested.........and approved.

Lily prefers to eat most of it first.. then roll around.

Charcoal rolls around in it until it sticks in his fur....

Every one of my cats has loved it.

I tried growing it.... didn't work out too well. Elsa dragged the plant around the house. So then I tried growing it outside. The neighborhood cats thought I was the local dealer.....they ripped it out of the ground and out of the pots.

This stuff I guess, right?

Amazon.com: Smarty Kat Catnip 1 oz. Bag: Pet Supplies

Do you just give them a little bit of it, or do you have to buy something to put it in? I think, in the past, I had a cat nip ball, and a little mouse, IIRC.

I just give it to them on a paper plate and get out of their way FAST! I should mention they each get their own plate of the nip to avoid any squabbles. I guess I give them at least a tablespoon a piece. Then just sit back and enjoy the show.
