It seems like rates are all over the board. I was paying $360 for a Dodge pick-up every 6 months for liability. I just added a CRV and Firebird and it went up to $1,160.00 every 6 months for liability.
I figured out why it was so much. In my state there is an optional coverage for uninsured motorisits. It is $450 extra every 6 mo. Why the heck should I pay for coverage for somebody who doesn't have it? My insurance will still cover me if they have to pay, but my rates will increase if I'm hit by an uninsured motorist.
They said I'm still covered under PIP, but if they have to pay out, my rates will increase.
No, you're covered for personal injury, but if the person who hits you doesn't have insurance and it's their fault, your insurance company under standard coverage doesn't have to pay to fix your car or replace it.

That's what uninsured motorist covers.
I see. I meant they will cover medical. I know my vehicle won't be covered.
Ah, OK then. Just wanted to clarify in case you didn't know. Could be a nasty surprise at some point.
My state is no-fault, so my insurance pays for my vehicle no matter what.
