Our PG&E bills for January & February were each under $200 a month. We live in the Tri-Valley, East Bay. We usually don’t need to run heating during the day in the winter and set the thermostat at night to 65-66 degrees F in the winter. If our thermostat is set any higher, the temperatures get a bit too warm and the house gets stuffy. We have a 3 bed/2.5 townhouse which is under 1500 square feet.

The rates have gone up about 10-15% over the past years. We try and use most of our electricity before 4:00 PM and after 9:00 PM as we are on the PG&E “Time of Use Plan.”

I envy people who can handle 65 degrees in a house. That would shatter me! On the other hand, I deal with a 'hot' room better than most people. So in winter, it's me who needs to turn up the temp, and during the summer it's him who needs AC (I don't).

I read in today's Sacramento Bee that PG&E CEO Patricia Poppe's total compensation for the year 2023 was $ 16.99 million, more than the $ 14.1 million she received in 2022. Nice job if you can get it. That check is 42, or forty-two times more than what our President gets, Joe Biden.

The good news is, according to the "Bee", is that customers don't pay for her compensation, because that money is paid by the shareholders. Now I sleep much better, because everyone here knows that the shareholders get paid by Santa Claus, if he has anything left over after taking care of the reindeer.

Not even close to Poppe's compensation but we (gas customers) did get the "California Climate Credit" this month ... whatever that is.

Yes, but what is your rate per KWH? That is half of the equation. You can be as frugal as you want, but if your electric runs 60 cents per KWH, your refrigerator alone will cost you 100 dollars a month.
