I wouldn't call him that. He has visions of presiding in the WH but that's been his goal from the very beginning. He's easily influenced by his wealthy constituents, made some bonehead decisions, and learned how to buy votes but I wouldn't call him a psychopath. No more than any other politician out there.

OK. Thank you. That actually makes sense.

The Objective of our governments is to drive consumption of energy downward to combat Global Warming.
The Strategy is to drive energy prices upward so we consumers, acting rationally, consume less energy.

Capisce?

Between the upcoming April rate increase and the proposed income based monthly fee ($15-$85 a month!) some households will see bills of $1k a month. Don't believe me? Just watch! It will be one more thing that pushing people and businesses out of CA.

Last summer, we didn't even run the portable AC units. We do seem to leave a lot of lights on, but I can't imagine that's what's causing our bill to be so high. Just adding this for frame of reference. That still seems high for a one bedroom.
I live by myself in a small 1000 sq ft condo in Mission Valley. Have never used the ac or heat. My combined electric and gas bill averages about 100 bucks a month. Sometimes it’s been as low as about 96.00. But I am really frugal.

Here's an interesting fact: "The average price per kilowatt hour of electricity for California’s big three utilities — Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric — is about 36 cents, compared to the national average of 17 cents."

Why?

Lots of fluctuation isn't there? I don't know why either. Electricity is supplied by my city while PG&E supplies my natural gas. The price per kilowatt hour for me is 22 cents. A little better than some areas in the state but still higher than other parts of the country. Looking at a graph for the previous year, SDGE pays the highest and it's off the chain. That's ridiculous. The least expensive is Santa Clara or at least it was in 2023. Don't know what the 2024 rates are now.

I always kind of curious how SCE gets lower rates than both.

I do remember PGE being highest since the EURON bankrupcy until the SONGs nuclear plant fiasco which caused SDG&E's rates to skyrocket since 2011 as SDG&E was charged with the costs of decommissioning the nuclear plant all of a sudden in addition to needing to import power. but SCE's rates didn't go up as much even as a major consumer. I guess PGE gets back to the top again.

Not to be generalizing though It used to be a people from China thing to keep a very uncomfortable lifestyle for frugality now its becoming the norm sadly. Ironically people in China nowadays are increasingly buying floor heating as they become wealthier.
