Do McDonald's and Chiptole suck too? They don't have delivery drivers but are raising their prices due to California's short-sightedness.

I am not sure why there is an unemployment issue.
Are the decent jobs really that hard to get?
I have seen a lack of service in the service industry which seems odd to me as well.
What sectors are being hit the hardest with the unemployment situation?

My wife is not in HR but is in a senior position and currently spends 3-4 hours per week giving her input via zoom meetings trying to hire well paid people.
She says there is a shortage of good qualified people in her field.

I just don’t get what the issue is.
I think there are plenty of service/retail industry jobs but I can see not wanting one of those.
I had a high paying union job and they have asked me several times to come back to work and double dip to my pension income without penalty.

So where are the lack of jobs at?
There isn't an issue, Andy. Just more fake news.

In Nevada the state minimum wage is $11.25 per hour but according to this the average wage of a fast food worker in Reno is $21.27 so I'm not sure that wages are influenced that much by state imposed minimum wages.

California's unemployment rate is fake news? Isn't the OP just stating a fact?

The higher minimum wage for fast food begins in 2024, though several cities have implemented their own

Research shows it tends to increase the unemployment rate, but it's hard to tell if that's the reason for California's higher rate.

Other articles show that tech jobs are still declining and having layoffs, perhaps due to higher interest rates.

Also it's a 1% difference from the national average, so not that big of a difference

So easy to hire people from other state and even country to work remotely when nobody wants to live in such an expensive state.

1100 more from Pizza Hut. (This is just the tip of the iceberg.)

Wait until there's blood in the streets.

I figure the first to lose their homes, are going to be the "ARM" crowd....

lol, I think you might actually believe that. Their pizza does suck but so does a lot of places that people continue to patronize.

It’s 30% higher than the national average. That’s pretty significant.
