Oh no the sky is falling.
What will we do?

We had nice mild marine fog here this morning for a couple hours and it’s been averaging 65-70 degrees at the warmest part of the day.
You’d think things would seem perfect but nooooo .
We got a few “nut jobs” here preaching that we could get a 50 foot tsunami wave any day now.

I wonder what mandates they are looking to impose this time .

Shhhhh. We don't mention mandates around here.
As for Oroville Dam. I remember when the entire town was evacuated because of the threat of it breaking. They got it fixed and have used the overflow a couple of times since. It's working just fine now.

The LA area has had at least two dam failures I've heard of. The St Francis Dam and the Baldwin Hills Reservoir Dam.

Dam failures are more likely than Tsunamis. However, politicians hate spending money to fix "old" stuff. They want to spend on flashy new projects.

You can see the disaster unfolding, day by day.

June 2 2023

July 3 2023

I don't see many talking about the benefits of this event. (which may last 2 years, or more)

Since the lake drains into the ground, (not by evaporation), it is recharging the groundwater every day. Two years of an unwanted lake might mean 10 years of groundwater they can pump out. Since most of the old lake bottom is much lower than it was when they drained the lake, there is a lot more water than it would have been originally.

That's what we want, SFX. Aquifers to be replenished. They will do it too, as long as government stays out of the way and let nature do its job.

The government, and the farmers are never ever going to stop altering the water in California. Until the government and farmers no longer exist.

They can divert what there is if they want but I agree with you, nature is nature and there will be dry years and wet years. My thoughts are that mankind is destroying the earth and all its resources. I will happily accept the abundance of water that's currently sitting in the lakes and reservoirs and keep a positive thought that maybe the next rainy season will bring more of the same. We need consecutive years of rainfall to replenish what was lost during these last many years of drought.

Latest data shows all reservoirs are full, or over full.
