We have dogs just like yours. Boulder is the worst place to walk a dog on-leash because almost no one with a sight and voice control tag actually has sight and voice control. Maybe 1 in 10 at most. We hike all over with our dogs but our preference is the open space in Thornton specifically near East Lake. Everyone there walks their dog on a leash. They must have very strict enforcement because we have never gotten attacked by an off leash dog there (all dogs are on leash). Also Adam's County regional park nearby is an excellent area (we've never seen an off leash dog there either). We took the Grumpy Growler's class at Boulder Humane Society and the general consensus of the class participants is that they had to go out of the Boulder area to walk their dogs in peace. Good luck!

Is there any place closer to Longmont than Coot Lake where you can walk your dog off leash? My pit is so well behaved and obedient that I would never need to have her on leash. I do put her on leash whenever another dog or person is approaching because I never know how they are going to respond. I never let her approach another dog or person without permission. She likes to run as fast as she can and go into any water so having her on leash is not fun for her or me.
As much as we go to Coot Lake I have never seen any aggressiveness among the dogs, just some friendly sniffing. I would like to find some closer places to walk off leash and be legal.
