This is a new book by Steven King (usually not my favorite author). It has, though, a fascinating premise: what would have happened if John Kennedy's assassination had been prevented? How would the world have been different?

Has anyone read this book yet?

King lost me long ago-- in general, I find his earlier work most enjoyable. However, a recent review of this book has caught my interest. Well-done time travel is a topic I find enjoyable.

The premise reminds me of Replay, about a man in his forties who dies of a heart attack, and wakes up in his college dorm room in 1963 at the age of 18. He is his old 18 year-old self, but with all the memories from the life of his older self. Each time he turns 43, he dies again, and reappears again earlier in life, though each reappearance occurs a bit later than the previous one. Anyway, he finds that he can change some events, but cannot avoid major changes. For example, he decides to head off the JFK assassination only to find that even though he can stop Oswald, he cannot save JFK.

A very entertaining yarn as he makes his way through his life, over and over, learning new things along the way while suffering because he is unable to replicate important relationships from his 'previous' lives.

...awaiting its arrival in my mailbox anyday now and is next on my list of books to read.

King's earlier works (prior to his near fatal car accident) were so much better than what has been published after his accident, IMO. 11/22/63 is supposed to be as good as The Stand, so I'm very interested in reading it.

We can only spectulate how the world would be had Kennedy lived...better? worse? All we can say for certain is that our world would've been different.

He wraps that up too neatly in a few pages at the end of the book. And once again, as he has been doing since his accident, his character has a bad thing happen that involves the character spending time in the hospital that is clearly still playing off King's own accident.

PS: I don't think this qualifies as a spoiler???

I didn't say that in reference to King's book. I took the op's question literally....

This book arrived today

I cannot wait to read this book. I love Stephen King ALL of his books!!! He's a writer unlike any other. And even if the story/plot may not be to someone's liking - his writing style will always keep me enthralled.
