The Twins loss gives us a battle for the ages on Wednesday afternoon. The unstoppable force, the Twins 17 consecutive playoff losses vs. the unmovable object, which is Dusty Baker lead teams losing 10 straight games when they can close out an opponent. Unless an asteroid hits Target Field on Wednesday afternoon, one of these streaks will come to an end.
Ugh....going on ten years of complete silence for A’s bats in the playoffs. At least they won’t be facing Verlander tomorrow.
The sun rises, the sun sets, and Beane goes still another season without a ring.
He accomplishes a lot, as much as can be done, w/o a true budget, but that still means the principles of Moneyball comes up short as a stand alone philosophy. It can work wonders with a super budget for payroll as the Red Sox have shown a few times.
I really have no idea what to expect from the Cardinals. I could see them (finally) getting some rest reenergizing the team and awakening a sleeping offense. I could also see them getting absolutely pummeled by a stacked Padres lineup.

Moneyball is a specific reference to finding value in inexpensive players which was overlooked by others. The Red Sox never engaged in "Moneyball", they used advanced metrics, but had no need for discriminating along budget lines.
The first botch up in trying to broadcast eight playoff games in the same day. The A's lead the White Sox 5-0 in the 4th, but none of it has been seen because the Reds-Braves game on ESPN is now in the top of the 13th with no score. So the one game I most wanted to see today, isn't being seen.
The Minnesota Twins last post season win was Game One of the 2004 AL Division Series. They then lost the next three to the Yankees. Since then:
Three losses to the Oakland A's in the 2006 ALDS.
Three losses to the Yankees in the 2009 ALDS.
Three losses to the Yankees in the 2010 ALDS.
A loss to the Yankees in the 2017 wild-card game.
Three losses to the Yankees in the 2019 ALDS.
Two losses to the Astros in the 2020 wild-card round.
That is 18 consecutive post season losses, not just a new MLB record, but a new professional sports record. (The 1975 to 1979 Chicago Blackhawks lost 16 straight post season games)

The Red Sox have won titles in recent decades, the As have not.
With the exception of you, who frets about MLB team payrolls? It isn't like teams drop ticket prices as they shed payroll.
The A’s fan in me knows better than to be hopeful about tomorrow because the team loves to wait until the last possible game to lose a series.
