It's not looking too good. The Cubs have lost 5 of the last 6 games after being on fire for 2 straight months. I hope Pinnella and get those guys back on track. The schedule is favorable facing mostly sub .500 teams in the final 50. If I remember correctly, only 12-15 games are against teams over .500.

They CAN do this!

The Chicago Cubs ended their 4 game losing streak Thursday as they beat the Colorado Rockies 10-2 to move to within 1/2 game of the 1st place Milwaukee Brewers.

The Chicago Cubs also claimed Shannon Stewart of the Oakland A's to replace the injured Soriano. Stewart is currently hitting .298 in 102 games for the A's with 9 homes runs and 35 RBI's. The A's will either negotiate the trade or pull him back from the wire.

Go Cubs!

It's amazing that after that crappy streak that they're still only 1/2 game back. Milwaukee practically tried to shove first place down the Cubs' throats, but the Cubs refused to swallow. Unbelievable. The streak also allowed the Cardinals to creep uncomfortably close too.

Whats odd is that when the Brew nosedives, so do we. When we ride a 5-6 game winning streak, so does MIL. We usually are pacing each other at 1-2 games, sometimes 1/2. I just hope the Cards flop, I frickin hate the Cards.

Stewart deal fell through. Cubs are said to have placed a claim on White Sox Left Fielder Scott Posednik currently batting .262 in only 32 games with 1 HR and 7 RBI's.

The rumored waiver-wire trade talks between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox over Sox outfielder Scott Podsednik are dead, and, in fact, never had much of a pulse in the first place. One source suggested the chances were never better than ''one in a thousand'' from the outset.

Source: Chicago Sun-Times

I was never for the deal. Not a Sox fan and any chip on Pods, for his part in the 2005 WS, shoulder could hurt team.

Looks like the Cubs biggest problem is winning this/the next game.

Creeping Cards continue to creep.
