Except Beato isn't what I'd call, "good".

Beato 2011
5.29 K/9, 3.63 BB/9, 4.30 ERA, 4.22 FIP, 4.64 xFIP

Average NL reliever 2011
8.11 K/9, 3.64 BB/9, 3.59 ERA, 3.71 FIP, 3.83 xFIP

He gives up half a run more per 9 innings than the average reliever.

I don't see much to give me reason to expect him to get much better.

He was decent last season before he got hurt. I love how you put words in my mouth.

Glad to see the pen get innings, and IMO the run the Cards scored is a good thing. Can you imagine how intense they would be Monday had they been dealt 3 straight shutouts?

Hard to believe that the east is on fire this year in both leagues, and I can't remember this kind of bunching with all teams over .500. It's going to be a pennant race in both the AL and NL East right down to the wire, and some exciting September ball.

Sorry for assuming that it'd take a good pitcher to help the Mets' bullpen.

Tough loss today. Great series overall by the Mets. Next up is the Nats and then the Yanks. Young is pitching tomorrow.
