I think if it had a normal paint job, it would be a pretty attractive vehicle, but Toyota doubled down on their 2-tone paint habit, and I agree it's not successful.
I think the 'base' models do without the black rear end and hood.
These are all "blended" cars. You take the nameplate off and ask yourself. It turns out pretty car. Crown was here once in the 70s. Pretty stodgy and never took off.
I think all Lexus cars & suv's have been ugly for several years.
As you point out that huge grill, the rear tail lights bugging out from the metal, & over use of sharp angles.
I refuse to buy a Lexus until their styling changes a lot...not matter how reliable they are supposed to be.
For me, reliability is #1. I have driven Lexus vehicles exclusively since 2007. Currently I have a 2020 RX450h. I absolutely love it. The front grill was the only turnoff for me, but I have "grown accustomed to its face".
Since the 2023 model, the styling has been toned way down. I don't like it as well since it looks pretty much like most generic SUVs now.
It looks hideous beyond just the paint scheme. The car looks very tall, very bulbous. They are pushing for that cross over or grand tourer form factor. The car looks nothing like the new Prius which looked a lot sleeker than this.
Side profile is hideous even more. Really hate the new 2 color body cladding trend.
