I wouldn't want to buy it, but that's just me. The front grille looks excessive and aggressive, it almost makes the car look hostile.
Coming soon to a dealership near you? Brand new cars with different colored body panels. I might be okay with a break in the monotony of mass-produced stuff. People get partial wraps on their cars because the factory color schemes are just so...blah.
I think if it had a normal paint job, it would be a pretty attractive vehicle, but Toyota doubled down on their 2-tone paint habit, and I agree it's not successful.
In the 60s and 70s there was a huge market for two-toned vehicles: the ubiquitous blue and fake wood grain finish used on station wagons that probably a lot of us grew up with. Now those were ugly cars, yet there were millions of them sold.

Yes, another paint job would make it more attractive. But looking at the body shape (the profile) of this car, it looks quite similar to a lot of other cars, specially the back end from the back window to the bumper. It reminds me of previous Honda models. The back end is ugly and takes a lot out of the body's looks. Honda's CRV from previews years had the sort of look, a sloped down line starting by the back window toward the back end. It would be fine if it was painted all white, with a black color hood only. In this case it look good, all the way to about the back window's mid-point. The prominent grill is not uglier than a lot of new cars nowadays. The black paint doesn't do it any favors, I guess

Two tone cars spread out over three or four decades (late 50s into the early 80s) and made single color cars look bland, depending on body style.

Each era of cars look similar, today it's exacerbated by CAD.
That car doesn't look that bad, it looks like.........a car.
