Why not get a new oil pan installed?

I have a problem with your comment, "to change the oil pan is not worth it," Metroboi.

What is the value of dependable transportation nowadays? More than likely much more valuable than a decent fix or even replacing the oil pan.

Unfortunately, far too many people blame their "abused / neglected" vehicle when it fails and needs major repairs or replacement rather than blaming themselves.

Just take your van to a mechanic who has the proper tools to remove the oil drain plug. If you don't want the mechanic to change the oil, at least he can loosen the plug for you. My goodness! It would cost you an hour of shop labor, plus a filter and oil to take care of the van.

Just use an oil change pump with a hose that goes through the dipstick tube. They're used for boats all the time, because a lot of boats have drain plugs that are totally inaccessible and there would be no way to get an oil pan beneath them even if they were.. Then just change the filter and you have an oil change.

I used to use these on the cars at one time too because my cars each had oil filters accessible from above.

I had a friend that did this for years. When he finally did drain it from the drain plug, after removing the plug, nothing came out. He had to use a screwdriver to break through the sludge that had built up on the bottom of the oil pan blocking the drain hole.

You'd basically pump the oil out from the dipstick tube.

Albeit a quick search shows that a replacement oil pan is around the same price. Of course, you'll likely need tools, and other parts.
Do this! Great suggestion!!

Sure you can. Use a vacuum and suck the oil out from the top. Or just get a large drain pain and take the filter off and deal with the mess. 15,000 isn't a huge issue. You're definitely safe, in non-extreme situations, doing 10,000 on synthetic. I'd want to get analysis if I tried pushing 15,000 but likely it's still okay.
