While watching the Women's Final Four last night, I had to laugh when the NASCAR headline came across the bottom of the screen
Yes, the winner is the most important.
Yes, it is nice to know the top 5 finishers.
Yes, it is nice to know the top 10 finishers because the media usually reports how many wins a racer has and how many top 5 and top 10 finishes they have.
Was it necessary to show the list of the top 12 finishers ( despite the fact the 12th place finisher was a lap down)
Is the media that desparate that they now show the top 12 finishers in order to get JR'S name mentioned ?
Only the "Top 12" in points have a shot at the annual championship (Sprint Cup). So the focus is on the "Top 12" until The Chase.
Yup, the media bends over backwatds for the fans' favotites.
In an earlier race, they spent time interviewing JR on his 9th place finish. All the media had articles on it the next day and what he went through the past year.
Robby Gordon finished 8th in that race, had gone through so much turmoil trying to get the money to even compete this year---------and he was mentioned nowhere .
I love NASCAR races and am glad there are many different winners this year.
I agree---I love it when the competition is good. I enjoy seeing a variety of winners. I would also like to see an equal amount of coverage for them. It does get tiring seeing the same guys getting all the attention when all the race teams work so hard! Robby Gordon is a fighter and that is what keeps him going. There are a lot of fighters and they should all be treated equally in my opinion.
That was a pretty good race Saturday night. I was wondering why our Fox network didn't have a pre-race broadcast it was showing baseball and went to the race at the green flag. Bummer
Was really hoping Mark Martin would win. Too bad Johnson didn't run out of gas on the last lap.
Well it's off to Talladega today. Amazing that the pole was won by Joe Nemechek, It has been along time since that name has been up in the front of the pack. Tony Stewart 2nd and Ken Schrader 3rd. I am sure by the end of the race only Tony will be left in the top 10.
Tony is also considering leaving Gibbs racing. He has one more year in his contract. He will go where the money is for sure. Rumors are he might even want to start his on race team.
Between them, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have won nine of the last 13 races at Talladega. Jeff was last year's winner.
Hope it is a safe race and "The Big One" is a no show. But it seems there is always a least one big crash at Talladega.
Sit back and enjoy.
Also.. Hat's off to Danica Patrick one her first Indy Car win.
I'll be cheering for Mark Martin. (I don't get to do that as often with his limited schedule)
