Looking for info on this. I’m looking for a secular school that isn’t entrenched in radical political ideologies, both right and left. I have to sit with my first grader in zoom class and just about every day I have to correct his learning to undo critical race theory, the poor grammar and inaccurate (to be charitable) history commentary. Any leads appreciated.

Maybe you should just home school if you don’t like those ideas.

we are at magellan and it isnt too bad. They do push BLM but it is really pushed by other students, not faculty. I would think most schools dont really push it. What school are you at that does?

Well, we moved to Berkeley ca to be closer to family when our son was born. The schools here are saturated with this stuff. Surprise surprise.

I would guess that it isnt integrated into any except the most extreme liberal schools. So it probably wouldnt even come up as a criteria with which to filter schools.

In the Dallas forum, I learned progressive education can mean something entirely different from political ideology.

Have you been to Austin or are thinking that just because it’s Texas it’ll avoid talking about these types of things? Read over any number of the top threads to see what is going on here housing wise.

I don't know exactly what the issues are, but I have not had trouble of any sort with the public schools my kids go to. Their history is a little bit different than mine was many decades ago - they do bring up the negative impact on the natives when they discuss the triangular trade. And there has not been any attempt to rationalize the civil war as anything 'noble'.

They also start a social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum in ES, which seems to mainly be about not bullying, feeling empowered to stand up to bullying, and learning about your own emotions and how to deal with them. Seemed kind of like fluff when I first heard about it, but it has been incredibly effective (in my limited experience) at educating a better group of kids, especially at the middle school level.

Interesting, thanks. I’ll look it over.
