Just so any newcomers unfamiliar with the area know the truth, the above statement is incorrect. Both Leander ISD and Round Rock ISD have fine schools, but both have a few schools that aren't up to par with the others in each district. Each school should be evaluated individually instead of evaluating a district as a whole. The same goes for the neighborhood statement which is also incorrect.

This. Plus you need to evaluate the schools based on your individual child's needs and learning style (and that can be different within the same family, so it's pretty impossible to say with any validity "X school, never mind school district, is 'best' for your child". Not sure where on earth OneFormula is coming from.

PISD - Has schools/serves communities in P'ville, RR, N. Austin. and Hutto
Hutto ISD - Has schools/serves communities in east Round Rock, Pflugerville and Hutto
Georgetown ISD - Has schools/serves communities in (shockingly) ONLY Georgetown (for now)

This is a pretty helpful map: http://twelveriversrealty.com/austin...ool-districts/

(I'm married to a teacher...)
As I said earlier, RRISD IS in Cedar Park -- ALL of the Walsh Trails neighborhood is within the Cedar Park city limits and feeds into RRISD. I know. I pay them thousands of dollars in school taxes each year. ALL of Ranch at Brushy Creek is in Cedar Park city limits too, and is split between RRISD and LISD.

I'm not a teacher nor am I married to one, but I do know the area where I live.

Come visit, I think Leander is over hyped up and it's boonies. Round rock is nice and I think that would be your better choice. I would look in the bee cave area too , very nice and it's growing big time.

This.,,,,

Not sure where folks that arent sure of what they speak of always sound so sure.. We have good friends that live in R@BC with a Cedar Park address and the kids go to Patsy Sommers down the road from me here at Avery Ranch and IS IN RRISD. And some other friends also in R@BC that their kids go the LISD elementary school. These 2 families live pretty close to each other. And yes, I did find it confusing where CP was when we were first moving.. Thought it was only the neighborhoods west of 183 but alas includes all those neighborhoods like R@BC east of 183

And again, RRISD does not equal Round Rock and LISD does not equal Leander.. at least for the benefits of potential newcomers

I'm just speaking from experience since I live about 2 miles from Leander(Cedar Park).

Before we bought our house we did an extensive search in RR and CP/Leander and personally CP/Leander has more appeal to what we were looking for.

Somebody said "boonies", and I totally agree it is...and just how I like it, QUIET STREET and I never have to road rage my way onto 183 or 620 in the mornings.. so it's either the quiet "boonies" of CP/Leander or the loud I-35 traffic nightmares to get into Round Rock....We settled for the boonies. no regrets.

But you really are not speaking from experience with all due respect even if you may have been here for generations. You are still speaking as if Leander ISD and RRISD are synonymous with the respectively named cities. You know better since you clearly in your other thread said that you live in Laurel Mountain elementary school area which is in Austin but in RRISD. And places like Steiner ranch have LISD and clearly in Austin so again, how accurate is it when you speak of schools ISDs and then speak of the cities..

I'm only saying that because I was in that position of a newbie looking for information just a few months ago and what you are posting is really inaccurate and would really not have helped me at all to figure things out and worse case, probably confused me further

And no, you dont live in CP/Leander if your child is attending RRISD (LM) so I'm totally confused.. because you are all over the place on this one..

Just my 2c

Well last time I checked LM ranked pretty high and it's in RRISD. That's why I said RRISD over Leander ISD. in my opinion. And it's very possible to live in one district and have your child attend school in another. I'll let you think on that one.

and yes, you are totally confused.

You're not helping clear things up when you praise one entire district OVER another because of a ranking of ONE school.
