Hey all, I am moving to Austin in a few weeks and I am so pumped. I really love Texas and Texans and can't wait to be there. You probably hate my type, the east coast transplants, but I'm hoping that I can integrate fairly well. I honestly cannot stand the east coast and the people here. Very excited to get out of here and into a place with great culture.

I don't have a question, just saying hello!

Hello! We welcome you but Austin is a mix of cultures so you'll find at least some east coast transplants here . I'm from around here and love many things about it - not everything. But you'll see for yourself. And we don't hate transplants - Austin is full of them!

Keep your head down and make fun of the Californians and you'll be fine.

I too was concerned about my glaringly Eastern persona but with a general dislike and mistrust of all things CA you are able to fly under the radar.

(of course I'm exaggerating but you get the idea)

We love naturalized Texans like you. You'll do great.

Now - the ones that come and tells us that we don't do it like they did up North? Get a rope.

Welcome! We do love transplants, as long as, as scm53 says, they don't try to tell us how we should change our culture and way of doing things to match where they came from. (What's the point of moving, in that case?) Sounds like that's not you, so you'll do fine!

Don't worry about it. Dude hates everything.

People excited to move here bring quite a bit of the energy that keeps Austin fun. What part of town are you setting up shop in?
