My Acer laptop has been acting funny -it turns off abruptly on its own and refuses to stay on for more than a minute. Looking for a reliable computer repair shop/ professional. It is an old laptop and I don't want to spend a fortune. Any recommendations?

It sounds like a hardware issue and it probably isn't worth sinking any money into an old laptop when you can buy a new Dell for $299 right now. You might need to click on laptop deals to see the $299 Inspiron 15 laptop.

Yeah, true. But I do need to recover my data. So I would still need a repair professional.

I saw a sign for a new computer repair place at 620/Lake Creek, but I have no idea if they're good or not since I was obviously just driving by. They're close though.

Yelp shows a couple computer places in the area with decent ratings. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I've had good luck with my personal laptops (only my work ones like to act up).

A friend of mine is a computer repair man. He works at a computer store during the day and will travel to you on his days off/evenings to do your repairs. Great prices and quick service. He also does iPhone repair. My iPhone power button was sticking and he fixed it in less than 15 minutes. He's local in Austin and very honest.
