Things to consider. NW Arkansas is awesome and has a strong economy. But because of that it is getting pricy. You could look at Adair and Delaware county Oklahoma and get your spread of land a lot cheaper and commute over to Fayetteville, Springdale, Bentonville. If you were working on the lower end of the string of cities, Adair County would be good. The north part? Then Delaware County. If you worked in the north part (Bentonville) you get your spread in McDonald County, Mo. Pineville is also a quick drive down the interstate 49. Noel, MO is a great little town. In Oklahoma, Grove is one of the nicer towns in the state. Tahlequah, OK is a nice college town with some amenities that you could access although it would be too far away to work in NW Ark. Tahlequah might have some decent jobs itself though.

All that area is pretty accessible to some really beautiful country. The Boston Mountains, the Cookson Hills, Illinois River (OK), Tenkiller Lake (OK), Grand Lake of the Cherokees (OK) (several other OK lakes are close) Elk River (MO). And of course you aren't far from the Ozarks east of Fayetteville.

NW AR, NE OK, SW MO are in the heart of some beautiful country and the Ouachita Mts which are south a couple of hours from there are the tallest mountains between the Appalachian Range and the Rockies with the exclusion of the Black Hills.
