does Phenylephrine HCl do anything?

It helps reduce the turbinates in your nose to allow more air into the nasal passage. Tutbinates are air filters in the nasal passage aiding in the reducing of dust, pollen etal that enters the nose. It should be used as a temporary solution. Overuse of Phenylephine HCI can actually cause a reverse action and the turbinates grow/swell back up and cause iritation or breathing problems. Some serious breathing problems are relieved by a medical procedure called 'turbinate reduction', though the turbinates can grow back months later and cause a repeat of the sinus problems.
Here's a good site explaining this procedure. https://www.entkidsadults.com/turbinate-reduction/
OP needs to see an ENT specialist and discuss the various options for relief of his nose situation.

Best stuff out there that works for me is:

Diphenhydramine ( which is Benadryl ) This is a powerful drug and I only use it when I'm really bad. I take half of a 50 mg tablet..
My go-to drug of choice is Cetirizine ( which is Zyrtec ) and I take about 5 mg every day... Half a tablet..

Both drugs make me tired but they clear the fog from my eyes, improve my breathing and stop the sneezing sometimes. And somedays nothing works except sleeping it out of me.

Have you tried using a Nettie pot to rinse out your sinuses? There are holistic sinus supplements that might help. You might want to look into natural antibiotics like oregano oil. There’s a lot of information on the net. Here’s just one: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/art...otics-to-avoid

I think seeing a doctor is your best bet. There are telemedicine doctors that you can see while at home. My Free Doctor works on donations. Basically, you request the medication you need. You don’t have to pay anything if you can’t afford it. https://myfreedoctor.com/
