  • The Baptist Academy no longer exists
  • I think it would be a good idea to post more about the magnificant Howard Keel on your web site! He was truly one of the most handsome and talented movie stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood (1940s-1960s). He had a fantastic career long before his role on "Dallas." In fact, it would be great if your town could develop a Howard Keel Museum! It would draw a lot of movie buffs and tourists. I live in Smithfield, N.C., and this town has an Ava Gardner Museum, which I helped to establish. Ava and Howard starred in two movies together, the musical "Show Boat" in 1951 and the western "Ride, Vaquero" in 1953. As you know, Howard died on Nov. 7, 2004 in CA. A small amount of his ashes were recently sprinkled on Ava Gardner's grave in Smithfield. Our town was very honored by that thoughtful guesture of his widow, Judy, who attended our "Ava Fest" and signed copies of Howard's book in October. Howard starred on Broadway and the London stage, and in 29 movies from 1948 to 1968. His movies are still aired often on television. And his life story is remarkable, in that he grew up poor and in harsh circumstances, yet with no training initially he attained the heights in entertainment that few ever do. I hope you can post a photo of the young Howard on your site, and list the movies he starred in. It would be very interesting for those who log on. Best regards to you and your town! (May our lovely small towns thrive, and remain small, as years go by!)
