Lawrence Hall of Science

Lawrence Hall of Science or LHS as locals refer to it is a preschool through high school center for education in mathematics and science. The hall allows children to learn through hands on exhibits in this Berkeley, California locale. The hall was started in 1968 by the University of California in honor of Ernest Lawrence. He was UC's first Nobel Laureate and a leader in science. He developed a number of different programs for teachers, families, students, and the general public.

LHS is open daily from 10am to 5pm. The Planetarium program is open Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. It is also open daily during the summer months from June 14 to August 20th. The planetarium has a 40 minute program starting at 1, 2, and 3pm. The animal discovery room is open 1:30 to 4pm on the weekends and daily from the same time in summer. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for students, and $6 for children 3 to 6 years of age. They have permanent and temporary visits at LHS. The ongoing exhibits include Pheena the Fin Whale, DNA Sculpture, Kids Lab, and Math around the World. Nano Zone and Sunstones are two other exhibits permanently displayed.
